Grotek Nutrients

BRANDING / PACKAGING / SOCIAL MEDIA / PRINT DESIGN
SWAG / PHOTOGRAPHY / CREATIVE DIRECTION

Grotek is a premium plant nutrient company that was founded in 1998, which formulates and sells products tailored to any gardener’s needs. Although the brand started in Vancouver, B.C., Grotek can now be found all around the globe. The company has an extensive range of fertilizers and supplements; a diverse ‘Main’ line with all of the basics, as well as the popular ‘Green’ line that is all organic.

In a saturated market, Grotek is known for being the cream of the crop. From the visual identity to the way that the team functions, the brand is superior in nature. While there are products and tools tailored for gardeners of every skill level, Grotek is primarily targeted towards the experienced grower that wants to get the highest quality and yield from their crops.

In addition to assisting in the initial label design and production, I was tasked with creating labels for new products over the years. One grouping of products that I designed from scratch were the Final Flush products, pictured below.

To showcase all of the products, I designed the product guide. The printed piece was designed with the company's motto in mind - "Science For Plants".

As an extension of the product guide, the Grotek website was designed over the course of three months. I was the the creative director for the project, while the production was completed by our entire team.

As part of the website development, I illustrated a set of textbook-style graphics to be used as secondary elements.

Swag items for both retailers and end customers were a huge part of the Grotek brand. It was an opportunity to show the fun side brand, and to stand out from the other nutrient brands.

As the brand grew stronger, social media presence was a big goal for the company. A campaign I lead with the team was intended to drive curiosity about one of the new products via an "influencer box" style giveaway to 30 top influencers in the industry.
